Learning from Examples using Re ective Exploration

چکیده
An important property of models constructed through the process of learning from examples is the manipulation and control of the data itself. When the data is actively selected or generated the process is known as exploration. Reeection about the internal model allows exploration to be more than just a random choice in the input space. In this paper we identify two basic forms of reeective exploration: density-based and error-based. We demonstrate the applicability of exploration processes and the advantages of using them in open systems using the task of learning a 2-dimensional continuous function.

Generative learning of visual concepts using multiobjective genetic programming
This paper introduces a novel method of visual learning based on Genetic Programming, which evolves a population of individuals (image analysis programs) that process attributed visual primitives derived from raw raster images. The goal is to evolve an image analysis program that correctly recognizes the training concept (shape). The approach uses generative evaluation scheme: individuals are r...

The bene ts of computational re ection are the abilities to reason and alter the dynamic behavior of computation from within the language framework. This is more bene cial in concurrent/distributed computing, where the complexity of the system is much greater compared to sequential computing; we have demonstrated various benets in our past research of Object-Oriented Concurrent Re ective (OOCR)...

متن کاملTransforming Teaching Practice: becoming the critically re ̄ective teacher
This article proposes a framework for conceptualizing developing as a critically re ̄ective teacher. The author posits that critical re ̄ection is the distinguishing attribute of re ̄ective practitioners. The term critical re ̄ection as developed here merges critical inquiry, the conscious consideration of the ethical implications and consequences of teaching practice, with self-re ̄ection, deep exa...
متن کاملUsing Partial Evaluation in Re ective Concurrent Object - Oriented Languages
Parallel and distributed programs often have hardware/problem speci c optimizations for improving quality of the program such as e ciency and robustness. Those optimizations, unfortunately, degrade portability and re-usability as they are intertwined with the original algorithm description. Re ective languages, which provide the application programmer extensible and abstract implementation of t...
